The image is of a British Army 'Broad Arrow' silver pocket watch by Rotherham's of London. It was in possession of Sidney at the time of his death and still works perfectly today.

Story

Sidney Crook emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada from Eccles, Norfolk, England in 1910, and was the third son of Harry and Mary Crook.

On 21st December 1914 he enlisted into the 5th Battalion Canadian Infantry. On June 6th 1916, he was in the trenches in front of Hill 60 at Zwarteleen near Ypres, when his position came under enemy shellfire. He received multiple shrapnel wounds, and was evacuated to Casualty Clearing Station 10, where he died the next day. He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery nearby.
