Story
Frank Lake was the father of Susan Crawforth.
Frank Lake was a mechanic in the Army Service Corps. He trained and took his trade test at Grove Park.
He spent his war in Basra.
He remembered being paid in rupees directly into his cap.
For his whole life he kept very precise diaries - but never mentioned any family memories or feelings.
He had an aversion to sand and refused to sit on the beach when the family travelled on holiday. He'd 'seen enough sand over there.'
He died in 1967.
