Story

Mary Black McGilvray McLennan was my great grandmother. I have a photograph of her in nurses uniform at Banchory, Scotland. I have had her sacrifice pendent for many years and worn it several times. I have never seen another one before. The ribbon was originally red but my great grandmother covered it with the French tricolor in tribute to her son lost in France.

Her husband was William McLennan. They lived at Rosebank Cottage, Banchory. Their son, William, served in the 7th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. He died on 02/07/1916 and is buried at St. Pol Communal Cemetery Extension, Pas de Calais, France.
