About

About the project

Lockdown2020 is a small crowd-sourcing project run by the Faculty of English and IT Services. It is aimed at any member of Oxford University who wishes to record for future generations their experiences during the CoVID19 pandemic, how it has affected their work, study, departments, college, or even neighbourhood. The aim of the project is to collect material that people feel reflect their 'new normal' existence during the lockdown period following the Covid-19 outbreak 2020.  The material will be made freely available online and also preserved as a time-capsule for future users.

What material are we collecting?

We are looking for material that describes what life is like for University members living through the lockdown in 2020. It does not have to be spectacular, heroic, or special. What we hope to get is something that will help us remember and others understand what 'normal life' was like for the University during this period.

You can share three kinds of material but you do not have to add all three. Please remember that the material you share will be made available online, so only share what you are happy for others to see.

  1. A description of your day/plan for your day. This can be as simple or as detailed you like and it can describe a whole day or just part of a day.
  2. Pictures from your 'new normal' life. Anything that represents your daily life in lockdown, or what is happening in your neighbourhood.
  3. Your message to the future -  share a short time capsule message, describing the current times for future generations. This can be a recorded audio or video file that you upload (max 5 minutes) or something you write.

You are welcome to contribute more than once. Each contribution can be up to 1 GB. If you have large files or much material you may need to compress the files or make more than one submission.

To submit any or all of the above just click on the Share tab above or go to: http://lwf.it.ox.ac.uk/s/lockdown/page/share

Who can take part?

Any member of Oxford University is welcome to take part, as long as you are happy to share your text, images or audio/video. You need to read and agree to the terms and conditions and be aware of our privacy statement (available here).

Terms and conditions - what will happen to the material?

The material that you share will be added to our archive. It will also be made available online. It will be used for research and other purposes, as defined in the Terms and Conditions. Again please read the Terms and Conditions carefully before you agree to share your material and read about How we use your personal data for research purposeshttps://compliance.admin.ox.ac.uk/research-data.
