Work signs

Experience

We are still in a period of limited return to on-site working (or RTOSW as it is being called). We implemented a 3 phased approach (each phase has planning and delivery) after lockdown eased in the summer. We moved to phase 1 where we allowed staff to return if it was important to the service they were running to be on-site (e.g. managing desktops, network installation) and also for wellbeing issues )as some staff had found working at home a bit of a struggle). Phase 2 was meant to be bringing staff back, possibly on a rota basis, after planned reopening of the buildings. This involved assessing how many staff could now occupy rooms with 2m distancing (so capacity of the building), and thinking of ways to limit contact. The latter involved planning out routes through buildings and signage. We divided our buildings into separate coloured zones and staff had dedicated entrances/exits and staircases. We got to planning Phase 2 but then the Government about-faced and reverted to 'work from home' if possible (having spent some time encouraging people to get back to the office), and then we had the tier system (Oxford moved into tier 2), before the national lockdown was called during November. So we have, as yet, not implemented Phase 2 and do not know when we will. It's also worth noting our rooms used for training are now being used for academic courses as they have capacity to allow teaching for small groups socially distanced.
