Story
Peter Marwood Notley is the Grandson of Montague Notley, he brought in a photograph of his Grandfather Montague sitting on a horse in the grounds of his newly built house, Notley House, which was built in 1905. The story Peter told was about the horse who was called Whiteface.
It was the horse who went to war not Mr Notley.
While in France, employees of Mr Notley’s estate who were fighting there, saw and recognised Whiteface.
When Mr Notley was told about Whiteface he paid for the horse to be brought back to his estate where it lived the rest of its life.
