Story
James Miller, son of Maggie McLean Nimmo (1863-1943) and James Miller (c.1863-1950) of Maybole, Ayrshire, was a dispatch rider with the 51st Signal Company of the Royal Engineers. He died in 1917 from wounds probably received at the Battle of Arras. His nieces called him ‘Uncle Jim’ although they never knew him. He was buried in France, but his nieces put flowers on the family grave in Maybole in his memory every year on 16 May the anniversary of the date he died.
