Story
Gilbert Cope was a pupil at Bournville Infant School during the First World War. In 1917, children at the school were asked to donate eggs that would then be packed up and sent to soldiers at the front. The children were given certificates for having brought in the eggs.
Gilbert kept a lot of childhood memorabilia. He also kept a certificate for a Christmas pudding fund. He received a letter in return from William Oswell, 1st Grenadier Guard, who was staying at Fircroft Auxiliary Hospital.
