Private James Cant was awarded British War and Victory medals for his service during the First World War. One includes his photograph attached to the reverse.

There is also an obituary following his death in 1930.

Story

A joiner by trade, James Cant served as a Private with the 2nd and 7th Highland Light Infantry, and was awarded British War and Victory medals. At some point during the war, he spent time at the Crescent War Hospital in London.

According to family stories, he served in India and contracted malaria, which may account for him being hospitalised.

He married Mary Morrison in Glasgow on July 14th, 1916, and had two daughters with her after the war. He died in 1930.
