The certificate, signed by Winston Churchill, acknowledges his despatch mention from despatch by General E. H. H. Allenby.

Story

Sergeant James McDivitt of the Royal Engineers was born in March, 1885. Before the war he was a cabinet maker. On October 23rd, 1918, he was mentioned in a despatch by General E. H. H. Allenby – this was commemorated in a certificate signed by Winston Churchill.

James McDivitt’s granddaughter, Mary McLean Innes, believes he spent most of the war in the Middle East, and saw T.E. Lawrence.
