Story
John Blair Dallas was my husband’s cousin. He served in the Howe Battalion, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve with service number Clyde Z/1876. He was the son of John and Isabella Dallas of Aberdeen. He lost his life on 26th October, 1916, and is commemorated in the Aberdeen City Roll of Honour. He is also commemorated at Knightsbridge Cemetery, Mesnil-Martinsart, Somme, France where he is buried. The inscription on his tombstone is “THY WILL BE DONE”. I have an extract from the Aberdeen Daily Journal, 18th November, 1916. Page 6, which includes a photograph of him. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website has information about him.
