Story
Private James Parkin (12743) served with the 8th Battalion West Riding Regiment. He was reported to have died of his wounds received in the Dardanelles in October 1915, leaving a young wife and 2 children. Letters of condolence were received by the widow from Kitchener and the Boys Brigade. A card was printed to announce his death and his name was inscribed on the roll of honour at Luddenden Foot Working Men’s Club.
A letter dated 31st December 1915 was later received to say an error had been made and that James was in hospital in Bristol. James was discharged before 11/11/1918 but transferred to the reserves.
