Story
Private Harold Grimshaw joined up in 1915, according to family stories. He was in the Tyneside Scottish which was a battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers. He came home on leave and didn’t want to go back. He died of his wounds to the abdomen and buttock, possibly in a casualty clearing station, on 22nd October 1917. He is buried in Dozinghem Military Cemetery, Belgium.
He was married with an 18 month year old daughter. His wife, Maria, lived off Lumb Lane in Bradford. She started with fits when she heard of his death and died 2 years later.
