Story
George Briggs was born 1st December 1894 in Cookley near Kidderminster, Worcestershire.
He enlisted in 1916 joining the Royal Field Artillery and later joined 'C' Battery of the 227th Brigade.
Sadly, he was killed during the Spring Offensive on the 27th March 1918 in France on the Somme battlefields.
With no known grave, George is commemorated on the walls of the Pozieres Memorial on the Somme in France.
Despite not being a Roman Catholic, George carried a set of rosary beads which can be seen as part of this collection.
