Story

Private James Henry Banks was born in Bradford. He joined the 2nd Battalion Duke of Wellington’s. He was one of six killed on Mons – Conde Canal on 23.08.1914. His family were millworkers and too poor to visit his grave in CWGC’s Hautage Cemetery or to pay for an epitaph on his headstone. His Great Niece visited his grave on the centenary of his death.
