Story

Charles Henry Richardson (b. 1985) Service No 9807 was Jane Dawson's Great Uncle. He joined the army in 1912 and served in the Transport division. He went to France on 8th Sept 1914 (in the 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment) and went on to serve in the 18th Brigade, 6th Division, 11 Corps, which was the British Expeditionary force. He was killed in action, possibly during the Battle of Armentières, on the 20th October 1914. His body was never recovered or identified.

His service was commemorated on panel 4 of Ploegsteert Memorial Memorial to the missing, on the Belgian border next to Ploegsteert Wood. He was awarded 1914 Star and British Victory War Medal.
