Walter was born in 1889 in Wellington, Somerset. His father was Henry James Burrows, a farm labourer.
Walter married in 1913 when he was an employee on the Great Western Railway. He was a driver in the Royal Field Artillery, regiment number 238493.
After the war he went back to work on the railways. He was kicked by a horse and died of his injuries on 11th October 1934 in Wellington aged 45. He is buried in Rockwell Green Cemetery.
